On June 12, 2003, the Greater Point Pleasant Charter Boat Association (GPPCBA) conducted its annual charity event on the member vessel, the 65 foot Miss Michelle.
Tom Savastano of the charter boat "Fintastic" has chaired this event for the past 10 years with the support of many of the dedicated association members and the Charter boat Miss Michelle.
This year, the GPPCBA hosted 35 Boy Scouts of America troop 489 of Millstone, NJ and their 15 chaperones. The fifty plus guests were entertained by Captains; Ron "Miss Michelle" Braen, Tom "Fintastic" Savastano, Ranier "Power Play" Mollering, Bruce "Mirage" Miller, Jerry "The Edge" Twardy, Ray "Scorpino" Momberlardi, Wayne "Northstar" Bushnell, Jim "Freedom" Spellman and Dave "AT Last" Merrell.
The fishing excursion was a great success with mumerous fluke, sea robins and skates caught by the mighty crew. Several keeper fluke were retained to become the appetizer for your complimentary luncheon feast at Clarks Landing Restaurant on Arnold Ave in Point Pleasant. George Truesdale , owner of Clarks has been so kind as to supply the food for the tenth consecutive year for the entire group's, Captains and crew.
The captains and mates look forward to this trip each year because it affords them the opportunity to give back to the public the experience of a day at sea and to reap the bounty of their work in conjunction with mother nature. In the spirit of giving, fuel for the trips is donated by Point Bay Fuel from Point Pleasant, NJ.
If anyone would like more information on this activity and types of groups we consider for this outing you may contact any member of this Association. Names of members can be found on the "Charters" page in this Web-site.
